Barrie Park is the summer home of the Fort City Band. Five concerts - designed for families and people of all ages - are performed free of charge. 2006 marks the 46th year of performances by the Fort City Band, currently under the direction of Wayne Crook. 100 chairs are provided, but picnic blankets are the norm for the concerts. Each 7:30 p.m. concert is preceded by an ice cream social fundraiser beginning at 6:30 p.m. Fundraising is underway to convert the planting mound in the park's center into a decorative fountain plaza with stone seating walls. Decorative stone facade would be added to the bandshell. For more information or to contribute please call the Fort Parks and Recreation Office at (920) 563-7781. A fenced in playground area - with play equipment donated by the Fort Optimist Club - provides a safe & fun play zone for youngsters. |
