GIRLS BANTAM VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE  (Grades 4-5-6)
Learn the individual skills of volleyball with Program Coordinator Gayle Boos and her talented staff of coaches. Serving, setting , passing and spiking will be covered with drills and contests to challenge and add to the fun!  Two times offered depending on experience.

SHOTOKAN SELF-DEFENSE KARATE  (Ages 5-Adult) - Learn the techniques of this type of karate, coordination, discipline and respect.  Class meets twice a week for six weeks.

GIRLS FAST PITCH SOFTBALL LEAGUE (Grade 3-8) -

Join the fastest growing league in the area - summer Girls Fast Pitch Softball League!  Most games are played at JF Luther School Diamonds.  Practices will take place in May and during the season.  Grades 3-5 which play on Monday & Thursday nights, will use a modified fast pitch with no walks to increase action in the field.  Grades 6-8 which play on Tuesday & Wednesday nights, may use a windmill fast pitch and will resemble the rules used in high school games, with some modifications.  Roster batting is used and all players have the opportunity to play in the field for every game.
     ** League games begin June 7 and conclude on July 22, with play-offs the week to July 26th **

     ** A mandatory evaluation will be held Friday, May 7 (early release day) in the Municipal Building Gymnasium  **

 Girls, get a head start in your most popular sport !  Through the inspiring direction of longtime volleyball coach Gayle Boos and her staff you will learn the touch of passing the ball (bump), setting the ball softly and the techniques for swinging for the perfect spike!  How about finally succeeding with the overhand serve?  Team defense will also be introduced.  Our four day volleyball camp will get you headed in the right direction.

GIRL'S ALL-STAR SHOOTING CAMP
(Entering grades 4-6) 

 Attend this camp and you will become a better shooter and offensive player!  Designed entirely on improving your shooting preparation, technique, and scoring options - this camp will utilize instruction, individual and group shooting drills, and contest that the best shooters put to use.  Participants receive a t-shirt and booklet that describes key shooting reminders and drills.

OUTDOOR GAMES
(Entering grades 4-8) 
 Four of the best outdoor games that feature skill, strategy, exercise and fun are offered: kickball, hide and seek, laser tag and fling sock attack.  Each day, our Aquatic Center Staff will show you how its done, then on to the competition.  One last chance of fun to end your great summer!!

TENNIS   (Ages 5-14) - Learn the basics of grip and ground strokes and advance to serves and overheads.  More advanced players will fine tune their play through game situations and use of the ball machine.  Each session includes instruction twice weekly for four weeks led by instructors Tim Hartwick & Chris Sherer.  Class size is limited to 15. Tennis balls and racquets are provided, if needed.  Friday "Lessons Tournaments" will be held after each session - on July 9 and August 13.  The tournament is included in your lessons fee and allows a fun finish as players are introduced to scoring and match play.  Beverages and awards are provided.

WARHAWK BASKETBALL CAMP - (Entering Grade 1 -8) - Learn hoops from the 2010 League Champions!! Instructors are UW-Whitewater Men's Head Basketball Coach Pat Miller, Assistant Coach Todd Skrivseth & UW Whitewater players.  Learn the secrets of great shooting, dribbling and passing from this talented staff.  Grades 1-4 will utilize lower hoops and use contests & games to develop skills, while Grades 5-8 will focus on extensive fundamental work with 5-on-5 game competition.  Cost includes camp instruction and t-shirt.  Learn from Champions - at the Warhawk Basketball Camp!!

 Join the Blackhawk High School coaching staff and players as they teach you the skills of hitting, throwing, fielding and game play in this 1 day camp.  It's a great tune up for rookies or veteran players who want to play in the summer Girls Softball League.  Campers will be split into two levels:  Grades 3-4-5 & Grades 6-7-8.

Easter Egg Hunt (Ages 1-7 and Ages 16+) - SPONSORED BY PARKS AND RECREATION, VERLO MATTRESS FACTORY OF FORT ATKINSON AND FORT OPTIMIST CLUB.  Hop on over to Jones Park RAIN OR SHINE    and help us find over 2,500 eggs the Easter Bunny has left for the kids of Fort Atkinson.  All parents and children will gather at the Jones Park Concession Stand and at 10:00 a.m. for instructions and signal to start the hunt.  12 lucky winners will also receive a large sand pail filled with Easter goodies. Bring your camera to get a picture with the Easter Bunny and Mattress Man. 

The second annual adult Easter Egg Hunt will take place at 10:30 in the Jones Park outfield.  Over 200 eggs will be scatted around the ball field for adults to find.  There will also be eggs with special prizes in them, including a free pool pass to the Aquatic Center, pillows and covers from Verlo and more!!

Teams will be formed to play against teams from Fort and other nearby communities.  Group practices are held with fundamentals being stressed in late November/early December.  Team practices are held in December and through February.  Games begin in January and go through the month of February on Saturdays.  Teams from Whitewater, Johnson Creek, Palmyra, and Eagle will all be a part of the league.  There will be 2 separate leagues - 4th grade, and a combined 5th & 6th Grade league.  Most games will be played at the Fort Middle School with 2 games being on the road at one of the other cities.

INDOOR TENNIS  (Grades K-5) -  "Christmas Break"   
The Municipal gym will get transformed into a mini-indoor tennis arena.  Great program for first timers or for those a little more experienced. Session 2 will offer 2 courts of  "GAME ACTION"  Singles, Doubles and Tournament play will all take place with a different emphasis each day.  All of the equipment is provided - from smaller tennis racquets, cushy tennis balls, smaller court size and lower nets.  The last day includes contests with prizes for everyone!

  **  NEW  **    NINTENDO Wii TOURNAMENT (GRADES K-5)  "Christmas Break"
Get a little exercise while playing video games.  Each day will have 2-3 different tournaments for everyone to participate in.  Tournaments will range from sporting events to carnival games.  Points will be accumulated according to how well you do in the tournaments, with a trophy presented on the final day to the person with the most points.

SPRING - 2008

SHOTOKAN SELF-DEFENSE KARATE (Ages 5-Adult) - Learn the techniques of this type of karate, coordination, discipline and respect.  Class meets twice a week for six weeks.

Girls Fast Pitch Softball Camp (Grades 3-8) 
Join the Blackhawk High School coaching staff and players as they teach you the skills of pitching, hitting, throwing,  and fielding in this 1-day camp.  A great start-up for rookies or a tune-up for veteran players wanting to play in the summer Girls Softball League  Campers will be split into two levels:  Grades 3-5 and Grades 6-8. Camp will be held at the High School Softball Fields.  In case of bad weather the camp will be held indoors in the gym  and batting cages at the High School.

Girls Fast Pitch Softball League (Currently in Grades 3-8)
Join the fastest growing league in town at the newly renovated softball fields behind Luther School. Teams are formed in early May with an evaluation practice - team practices will then be held throughout the month.   Games are played June through the end of July.  The league is divided into two divisions:  Grades 3 - 4 - 5 and Grades 6 - 7 - 8.
Deadline to register - Friday, April 25
Fee - $25 (includes visor)

After School Playgroup (Grades 1 - 5) - Play popular games such as Dodge ball, Kickball, Frisbee Golf, Fling Sock Attack, and more in this after school open gym type setting.  Led by an enthusiastic staff - kids will burn some after school energy on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Open Gym
(Grades 1-5) - Here's a great way to get some exercise during Spring Break vacation.  The kids will be kept busy during the one hour open gym by playing basketball, dodge ball, tag & other assorted inside games.  Each participant will get a chance to pick from our prize bin at the end of each hour.

Supreme Saturday Dodgeball  (Grades 4-8)  Every Saturday new teams will be formed and a new version of the popular playground game will be taught.  Dive, Duck . . . and, of course, Dodge your way to victory!
