This recreation basketball league is the
one you have known & counted on for nearly 40 years. Key features to
the Fort Parks & Recreation League: Girls & Boys will have separate
leagues, your child will have 14 week day practices & play 8 Saturday games
(Jan-Feb) with the same volunteer coach throughout the entire season and the
emphasis is on fun, skills and sportsmanship.
Teams are formed by balancing talent levels but making sure some
teammates are from the same school. Group practices are held to teach
the same skills to all players and help Parks & Rec determine teams, then
volunteer coaches lead teams for the remainder of the season. Games
are primarily played at the Fort Middle School gym against teams from Fort
Atkinson and neighboring communities of Johnson Creek, Whitewater, Palmyra &
Eagle. 2-3 of the 8 games will be played at these neighboring communities.
A sportsmanship player of the game is awarded a free ticket to a Milwaukee
Bucks game.
Group Practices @ Fort Municipal Gymnasium (Will be held the
first two weeks designed for all levels and grades. Teams will be
emailed on Friday Dec. 9)

the Fort Youth Center. Hang out with your friends, use the gymnasium,

items. Game Show Night, Casino Night, Lazer Tag, Movie Nights and numerous
dances will all be planned throughout the school year. Your season fee
includes daily admission and dances. (daily fee $2.00, dances $3.00 if
you do not have a pass)

Boys Volleyball 101
(Grades 4-5-6-7-8)
Kids will learn the skills of volleyball from the Boys Varsity
Volleyball Head Coach Mike Ziegler and players from the High School
Team. The sessions will cover basic skills such as forearm
passing, setting and attacking. Using fast and fun drills to teach
movements and skills we will also build up toward games and scrimmages.
Near the end of the camps, kids will understand basic volleyball rules
and skills. This is geared towards all levels of interest.

SUMMER - 2011
TENNIS
(Ages
5-14) - Learn the basics of grip and ground strokes and advance
to serves and overheads. More advanced players will fine tune their
play through game situations and use of the ball machine. Each session
includes instruction twice weekly for four weeks led by instructors Tim
Hartwick & Chris Sherer. Class size is limited to 15. Tennis balls and
racquets are provided, if needed. Friday "Lessons Tournaments" will be
held after each session - on July 9 and August 13. The tournament is
included in your lessons fee and allows a fun finish as players are
introduced to scoring and match play. Beverages and awards are
provided.
